Change of Date to fit in with the Warraweenies. so now will be a week later, Saturday 9th to 16th September. Tim has agreed to these dates.
After 2 great visits to Nanya I am proposing another visit.
I am reverting back to September as we could not raise any numbers to proceed in June last year.
Everything will be much as before, accommodation in bunkrooms, 2 or 4 beds to a room, well equipped kitchen, and communal meals where possible to share cooking and wash up duties.
In return for free accommodation, we do a bit of work around the property removing fences and tidying up. Just be careful of the "heritage" stuff, both indigeneous artefacts and white man junk, especially the old junk, new junk might or might not be rubbish. There may also be an opportunity to set up a new pitfall trap site. We have also been extended an invitation to assist with Novembers pitfall trap surveys, see separate entry in the Calendar.
Driving time from Melbourne is around 8 hours, and a fairly easy drive 2.5 hours north west of Mildura. Feel free to come and go as you please, and it's not all hard work.
Access is pretty easy and 4wd is not really required, unless it rains. good clearance is recommended although not essential. Xtrails, Foresters etc are quite suitable, hell, even the Kingswood would make it. B&S utes might scrape the bum.
Day visits are optional to Lake Mungo, Menindee Lakes, Broken Hill and surrounds.
BYO food and drinks (menu suggestions for evening communal meals are welcome), include a roast and all the trimmings.
BYO Bedding, pillows, (bed and matress's provided).
Solar hot water and showers. 240v power (limited by solar and generator).
